About our Partner, Queux Patio Plants
Queux Patio Plant Centre is a family business owned by Nigel & Ross Clarke. The Centre's main objective is to work with the community to create a Floral Guernsey. The first week of October 2009 marks our 20th anniversary of teaching thousands of adults and children the value of plants and the benefits of a Floral Island.
Over the last 20 years Floral Guernsey judges have presented our clients with numerous Gold and overall winners awards for work carried out by us at their premises; Cable & Wireless, Quayside, Rothschilds, Beau Sejeur and Swoffers to name just a few. Other awards made directly to the Plant Centre were Gold awards and overall winner awards for our show gardens at annual Floral Guernsey shows and the Skipton award for outstanding contribution to Floral Guernsey show 2004.
In 2003, £9,500 was raised for Children in Need from a fund raising event at the Plant Centre which involved children planting pots of pansies. 100% of donations given to Children in Need.
In 2004 we received a Guition Group Ambassador of the year award nomination in recognition of credit brought to Guernsey by raising £7,520 for Children in Need with a Children's planting initiative and events at the Plant Centre. Over a four year period over £25,000 was raised for Children in Need.
December 2005 we received the Collas Day outstanding service award organised and presented by Island FM.
In july 2006, over 800 children attended our stand at Floral Guernsey in Candie Gardens and planted a wild flowering plant in a pot. They all left the stand with vegetable plants, the world's first yellow geranium and a wild flowering plant. 100% of all donations were given to MIND the mental health charity.
April and October 2006 Workshops at the Plant Centre attracted over 500 adults and children including Tiny Tots who were keen to learn about creating a Floral Island. Money raised at the Tiny Tots planting playtime was donated to Children in Need.
December 2006 visitors who enjoyed their visit to Christmas lights at the Plant Centre made donations. 100% was given to Les Bourgs Hospice.
• Green Legacy Guernsey Project 2007 - target £2,000.00
Our project was launched in March 2007 with a target of £2,000 to supply free native
trees and hedging plants to the parishes and free low energy light bulbs to the elderly.
The money would be raised from workshops and events at the Plant Centre, donations
from visitors to our Christmas lights and local companies who could see and believed in
the benefits of the project.
• Total raised as at 31 March 2008 £7,405.73
